International Nonviolence Conference In Bethlehem

The International Nonviolence Conference will be held December 27-30, 2005.  The conference will consist of four tracks: Theory and Methods of Nonviolence; Palestinian Nonviolent Movements; Religion and Nonviolence, and Past, Present and Future of Nonviolence.  The conference will include speakers, trainers, students, organizers and activists from across the globe and reflect a diversity of nonviolent experiences and views.  The first conference is being held in Bethlehem because of the intensified nonviolent struggle which has emerged in the Palestinian Territories in the past few years.   A website, www.celebratingnv.org has been created for the conference.

It is explicitly an international conference on nonviolence, meaning the program and conference attendees will be international in composition and scope, and that the focus of the conference is nonviolence as a method and strategy and not Israeli-Palestinian conflict resolution or peacemaking.

A fundraiser gathering for the conference  in Bethlehem will be held in Washington DC on Sunday November 6 (please see fundraiser details here)
