MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR CHRISTINE SAADEH
Press Release/ Bethlehem Association.
April 10, 2003

We have all been saddened by the tragic death of 10 year old Christine Sa'adeh from Bethlehem who was killed by Israeli soldiers on March 25, 2003. This tragic event prompted the Bethlehem Society, Montreal, Canada led by Joseph Shomaly, in cooperation with the Bethlehem Association USA, to hold a service in her memory on Wednesday April 9.

The memorial service was very well attended. It brought together many Canadian friends from different ethnic backgrounds to remember Christine and her family and to pray for peace and justice in the Holy Land.

The Mass was a concelebration in three languages (English, French and Arabic). Fr. Roger Martineau presided and Fr. Labib Kobti, from the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, delivered the Homily and explained the plight of Palestinians in the Holy Land.

This important event was announced and covered by local news media like The Montreal Gazette, the Montreal Catholic Times, Cités Nouvelles, CFMB Radio Montreal, Radio Ville Marie.

Any help that members and friends would like to extend to the Sa'adeh family would be appreciated and should be addressed to Joseph Shomaly at:  shomaliinc@bellnet.ca
