- Outreach by Letter Writing:
- One of the
responsibilities of our Association is to educate the public about the
plight of our families and relatives in the Holy Land. This is a
difficult task with our limited resources. We urge all members to do
what they can by writing to the administration and the press. In this
section we will publish selected letters or articles from
Association members and others that address this issue. All letters and
articles published here reflect the opinion of the writers only, they do
not reflect the position of the Association unless clearly indicated.

Letters to the Administration and
the Media:
-
We have seen that letters to
the U.S. State Department have been effective when sent in sufficient
numbers. Now is the time to let the Bush administration know that this
is an issue that he and his staff will have to deal with, this is an
issue about which U.S. citizens are concerned. We ask all of our
members, to send letters and faxes to the U.S. State Department
demanding that the Bush administration use its influence to halt all
land confiscations and seizures by Israel in the Occupied
Territories. Talking points for Letters:
-
1. Israel has already
confiscated more than half of the land in the West bank and Gaza.
2. The confiscation of land deprives farming families of their only
means of supporting themselves. It also sections and isolates all the
Palestinian cities.
3. International law and Human Rights accords outlaw the confiscation of
land by an occupying power, and land confiscation creates "facts on
the ground" that
prejudice negotiations in Israel's favor.
4. Many of the families whose land has recently been confiscated have
deeds proving their ownership that go back to the
Ottoman Empire.
5. The U.S. must use its influence to insure that international law is
observed and justly administered in Israel/Palestine.
